How Our Wheels Are Made

Forged From a Single Block.

In the 1960s, most wheels left the factory as stamped steel — pressed in pieces, welded together, dressed up with a hubcap. It was the best the era could build. Every VFW wheel starts differently: one solid block of forged aluminum, shaped under pressure and machined to tolerances that didn't exist back then. Same soul. Stronger metal.

  1. A solid forged aluminium billet before machining

    One Solid Block

Every wheel starts as one solid billet of 6061-T6 aluminum. No welds. No seams. The entire wheel is cut from that block.

  2. A forging press shaping an aluminium billet

    Forged Under Pressure

A forging press shapes the billet under thousands of tons of pressure. This aligns the metal's grain and closes the voids left by casting. Heat treatment locks in the strength.

  3. A CNC machine cutting a wheel from forged aluminium

    Machined to Fit Your Car

CNC machines cut the final shape. We confirm the fitment with you before setting the bolt pattern and backspacing.

  4. A finished forged wheel being inspected

    Finished and Inspected

Before shipping, we balance and inspect every wheel. Then it's crated and insured for the trip to your garage.

59 Cadillac - Vintage Forged Wheels

The design

Every Blade, Machined.

The 59 Cadillac is built around one idea from 1959: a ring of turbine blades around a crest. Here is what we kept, and what sits underneath it.

  1. A ring of blades, one piece.

Each blade is cut from the same forged block as the rim, not pressed into a cover that sits on top of it. Nothing is attached, so there is nothing to work loose.

  2. Cut to your car, not to a shelf.

The bolt pattern and backspacing are machined to the fitment we confirm with you first, so the wheel is made for the car it is going on.

  3. A center that finishes it.

A machined aluminum cap carries a color crest emblem, bonded with 3M automotive adhesive, the way the 1959 covers carried theirs. It closes the design at the hub.

Talk through the details

Heritage

Borrowed From History. Built for Now.

The original

For 1959 Cadillac fitted the Sixty Special and the Eldorado with a turbine-blade wheel cover: a ring of fins around a crest center, on the year best remembered for its towering tailfins. Like every full cover of the era, it was stamped metal clipped over a plain steel wheel.

What we changed

Ours keeps the ring of blades and the crest center and loses the cover. Every blade is machined into one piece of forged 6061-T6 aluminum, so there is nothing to clip on or knock off. The bolt pattern and backspacing are cut to the fitment we confirm with you.
